Start with a grade-specific question
Use this checklist when reviewing the supplier-described early-strength liquid PCE for precast or high-flow concrete. It is a preparation and recording guide, not an approved mix design or an instruction to release a structural element. The HFC-1001 product page owns the supplied properties and original document; this page owns the trial brief.
State the question before selecting a candidate: comparable workability with less water, workable placing time, or a documented early-age strength target. Do not treat those as the same outcome. Long transport or extended retention needs a separate suitability discussion.
Resolve the document gaps before using a dose
The supplied sheet quotes percentages without an unambiguous denominator or supplied-product versus active-solids basis. A percentage alone is not a batch quantity. Request a current, grade-matched technical sheet and written clarification before adopting that range. Do not substitute another manufacturer’s similarly named product instructions.
| Record | What to confirm |
|---|---|
| Identity | Confirm HFC-1001, issuing supplier, current revision and the sample batch. Mixed trade names in the supplied file do not establish brand authorization or equivalence. |
| Dose basis | Ask whether the denominator is cement only or total cementitious binder, and whether the numerator is supplied liquid or active solids. |
| Composition inputs | Request declared solids and the relevant water contribution. Neither is established by this checklist. |
| Handling and compatibility | Obtain the current SDS, storage information and grade-specific guidance for any other admixtures. Mixing order and dilution instructions need supplier confirmation. |
The Dosage guide explains basis conversion. The PCE calculator can check arithmetic after those inputs are confirmed; it does not select a suitable dose.
Prepare the comparison record
The responsible laboratory should set the reference, candidate matrix, test methods, observation times and acceptance criteria before testing. Record which variable changes and which variables remain comparable. If water, binder, curing and dose all change together, the result cannot be attributed to HFC-1001 alone.
| Record | What to confirm |
|---|---|
| Materials | Cement source and batch; supplementary cementitious materials and amounts; aggregate grading and moisture; water; other admixtures and their batches. |
| Mix and conditions | Material masses, defined water/binder basis, batch size, concrete temperature, mixing sequence and elapsed times as actually used. |
| Candidate identity | Sample batch ID, confirmed dose basis and actual supplied-product mass. Keep a link between the sample, documents and each result. |
| Production target | Required placing window, surface expectations, planned curing conditions and the strength ages selected by the responsible team. |
For material changes or unusual workability response, use the Compatibility guide to structure the discussion rather than adding more product without diagnosis.
Record fresh and hardened outcomes separately
| Record | What to confirm |
|---|---|
| Workability over time | Record slump or slump flow using the method appropriate to the mix, plus temperature and elapsed time for each observation. |
| Fresh concrete behaviour | Record air content and density where relevant, and observations of segregation, bleeding, placing and finishing. |
| Setting and early-age strength | Record the chosen methods, ages and curing history. Setting time, early strength and demoulding permission are different decisions. |
| Later-age and surface results | Record strength at the project’s selected later ages and surface defects or finish observations. Retain individual results, not only an average. |
NRMCA’s research laboratory lists trial-batch testing for workability, air, density and compressive strength, with separate setting and other fresh-concrete methods. These categories support a multi-outcome record; they do not certify HFC-1001. NRMCA test categories.
Review a result without turning it into a guarantee
- Check whether the reference and candidate used comparable materials and conditions.
- Compare each agreed outcome, including any trade-off between initial flow, retained workability and strength.
- Identify missing observations, deviations and the need for repeat evaluation.
- Have the responsible technical team decide the next trial or qualification step. This page supplies no demoulding threshold or approval.
Sika’s general guide calls for specific compatibility testing when multiple admixtures are used. This is background guidance, not evidence that HFC-1001 meets a standard or is interchangeable with a Sika grade. Compatibility reference.
Send a useful HFC-1001 trial brief
Include your application, cement and binder sources, current mix, temperature range, required placing window, curing regime, target test ages, other admixtures and available reference results. Ask for a traceable sample and clarification of the dose basis.
